Mahi on the Board at Fort Pierce | Last Mango Charters
Capt. Tris Colket ·

A full board of mahi hung under the Fort Pierce City Marina sign, with two of the crew standing alongside. Mahi (dolphin, on a Florida menu and a Florida licence) are the fish most people picture when they think of a day offshore here: bright green and gold in the water, fast, and among the best eating that comes over the rail.
Where they come from
The inlet in front of the marina is one of the quickest routes to deep water on Florida's east coast. Dolphin, wahoo and kingfish are the fast ones: they are usually trolled up on the way out or on the way back in, which is why the reels on this boat are the size they are. A normal day puts the boat 10 to 15 miles out, in the same water the pelagics travel through.
What happens to them
The mate fillets and bags your catch at the dock, free. Take it home, or walk it to a restaurant in town that will cook it for you that evening.
The Last Mango fishes out of the Fort Pierce City Marina, Dock E: full days and three-quarter days, whole boat, up to six anglers, with rods, reels, tackle, bait, ice and your fishing licence on board. See the trips and rates or check a date.
Seasons, size limits and bag limits are set by FWC and NOAA and change from year to year. Call the boat on 772-559-0594 and Capt. Tris will tell you exactly what is open the week you want to fish.
