Mahi on the Mango

Mahi on the Mango

After four or five days of wind and rain, we poked our nose out Fort Pierce Inlet this day and found calm seas and hungry fish on a color change in 140'. A short search brought us to and area of patchy seaweed and cooperative mahi. M and her husband Sebastian were ready for the challenge while our trusty mate Shea assisted them in keeping their lines tight and the tangles to a minimum. It was fast and furious for a while while captain Andrew maneuvered the Mango to the best possible angles for success for successful gaffing.
We ended up with a nice catch of mahi-mahi having released more fish than we kept.
After a relaxing trip back to the dock and with most of the catch filleted and neatly portioned out, the bulk of the catch was kept on ice while our charter headed for Cobbs Landing Restaurant (adjacent to our marina) where they are always happy to cook "The catch of the day".
